I think it will benefit our students immensely. Students will have more of an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned. Hopefully, this will aid in the increase number of students who exit to Comp 101.joe canigliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066849394995051077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5202691429569261417.post-41881303390013410662012-07-08T11:29:07.391-07:002012-07-08T11:29:07.391-07:00One more thing I want to add is that an important ...One more thing I want to add is that an important element of the Learning Community is the relationship between the instructors of the LC.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11976349449656409956noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5202691429569261417.post-54370810709526299982012-07-07T16:36:04.178-07:002012-07-07T16:36:04.178-07:00I have been teaching in a learning community for t...I have been teaching in a learning community for the past four semesters. I find students who are enrolled in a cohort or linked courses seem for the most part eager to learn. Students are more willing to interact with each other because they share similar interests. They also seem to form friendships much easier. In addition, I find students more eager to form study groups outside the classroom because they feel much more comfortable with each other. This is due to the fact they spend much of the school day together. Also, faculty can interact with each other much easier. This hopefully will aid in helping students achieve academic success. I also have noticed that students in my learning community find it easier participating in classroom discussions. Again, I think this is because they feel very comfortable and not embarrassed to speak. Overall,it has been a wonderful experiencejoe canigliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066849394995051077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5202691429569261417.post-3189087935966742412012-07-07T16:17:52.648-07:002012-07-07T16:17:52.648-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.joe canigliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07066849394995051077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5202691429569261417.post-43516362024097399732012-07-06T04:17:34.979-07:002012-07-06T04:17:34.979-07:00I agree. Unfortunately at HCCC Learning Communities are not well marketed and frequently late registering students are placed in an LC because there is nothing else available. I have found that late registering students except in one case usually fail.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11976349449656409956noreply@blogger.com
